Homesick by Brenda York: All Proceeds Help Japan!

10x8", oil on canvas, click to bid

In my last post I told you about the Daily PaintWorks "Help Japan Challenge". One of my fellow painters on DPW is Keiko Tanabe. She grew up in Japan and still has family and friends living there. Personally touched by the earthquake and tsunami disasters, Kieko came up with the theme of "home" for this challenge. The paintings can be anything that represents home to the artists. As I write this post there are 202 original paintings submitted for this challenge and more are posted every hour. Every single painting is on auction through DPW and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Japanese relief efforts. It's the perfect chance to do something to help the devastated people of Japan and get an original work of art. So easy!

You can bid on this painting that I painted especially for the "Help Japan Challenge" or take a look at all the paintings that have been donated for this cause. Please bid generously!

If you are one of my artists friends, I urge you to join in--it's very easy and you don't have to be a member of Daily PaintWorks. All the information is available on the website or send me an email and I'll walk you through the process.

Visit my website to see more of my work. Thanks!

Abstract Watercolor Painting by Brad Rickerby Donated to Auction to Help Japan

Flowers Outside My Front Door, 8.5 x 11" Watercolor and Gouache on Paper
Painting by Brad Rickerby

Inspired by my fellow Daily Abstract Painter Carol Nelson, I have donated this work, Flowers Outside My Front Door, which is what I hope to see in my yard very shortly, to Daily Paintworks, for auction with the proceeds donated to agencies helping Japan in their current crisis.

This work is watercolor, gouache and dye on 180 lbs Arches watercolor paper. The paper size is 9 x 12". The size of the painting is 8 x 10.5. The small boarder area makes matting and framing a breeze.

Please go to Daily Paintworks to enter your bid. Starting bid is $35.00.

For further information about the artist and the painting, please go to http://colorlightmovement.blogspot.com.

My website is at www.colorlightmovement.com.

"HIGH COUNTRY" daily painter original mountain landscape © Carol Nelson Fine Art

"HIGH COUNTRY"
I know this is not an abstract, but read on - it's for a good cause.
I painted this 12x6 inch oil painting last year.  This fall scene is inspired by the mountains in southwestern Colorado when the aspens are golden, the sun warm, and the air is dry and crystal clear.

I have chosen to donate the sale proceeds from this painting to the Help Japan Painting Challenge being conducted by Daily Paintworks. The painting is an oil on cradled panel - no framing necessary.

You can own a piece of Colorado (sort of), and we will both get the satisfaction of knowing we contributed a small part to the massive relief project going on in Japan.

To purchase this painting, click here to go the the Daily Paintworks  site.  Enter your bid for my painting - minimum starting bid is $75.

150% of the sales price for "The Darkest Hour" goes to Japan Earthquake Efforts -- by California Daily Painter JJ Jacobs

"The Darkest Hour"
24" x 48" x 1.5"
Acrylic on canvas
$100 minimum bid*

*The horror of the quake and tsunami in Japan continues to wrench my heart as I watch and learn more details of the destruction of this nation. Last night as I was watching the news I picked up my paintbrush and proceeded to paint. While I feverishly squirted paint onto the canvas and swished the colors around with my largest brush, my anxiety and grief was somewhat appeased by the mere physicality of the motions, but I know that I need to do more.
So hoping others feel the same as I do, I am offering this painting for sale to the highest bidder with 150% of the purchase price going to the Red Cross for their disaster efforts for this devastated nation.
It's called "The Darkest Hour" and is 24" x 48" x 1.5" painting made with quality acrylics and coated with a final UV protective matte varnish. Ready to hang -- the minimum bid is $100. I will ship anywhere in the world and those charges will be added to the purchase price.

If you are interested in purchasing this painting please send me an email with your highest offer to: jjjacobs@comingabstractions.com and put "The Darkest Hour" in your subject line.
The bidding starts now and goes until midnight, March 16, 2011. Let's all get together and help out however we can -- and get a original JJ painting for your efforts!!!
